How Can I Pray for You?

A Prayer for Difficult Situations

Do you feel like you can’t do this anymore? You can’t handle the stress or the way your body feels so full of angst all the time. You’ve tried your best and you’re just done, but you can’t be . . . you need a prayer for difficult situations.

I get it!

I know this might sound weird . . .

. . . but I hear God talk to me.

When I hang out with Him, I find peace and get the answers I need. So, I’m going to share my conversation and pray that He uses it to help you, too.

Even though I’ve done this hundreds of times before, I still get attacked with thoughts like “I’m doing it wrong.” And, “I don’t have all the answers. Why am I writing a prayer to share?”

I’m writing a prayer for difficult situations because I’m in the middle of one right now. I don’t have answers, but God does. So I’m going to trust Him to do what only He can.

I invite you to list the thoughts attacking you, too.

Do you know why?

Because I don’t always understand that my thinking isn’t true until God shows me the truth. It’s wild, but often that truth speaks directly against a lie I’ve been believing and puts rebar in me.

And it’s not just that I recognize a lie, but the truth resonates.

It’s an aha moment!

It’s one of the ways God gives me a sword to fight back.

So, are you ready?

Let’s do this! 🙂

Me: God, am I doing this wrong?

God: Are you doing what I asked you to do?

Me: Yes.

God: I know you, your heart, and your motivation. Not only that, but I know your capabilities and your hesitations. I know how you do things. That’s why I asked you to do this.

I also know every person who will read this. I love them and I want to chat with them, too. Not everyone has conversations with Me. Not everyone believes it’s Me talking to them. Some find it strange and refuse to try it.

I want you to show them how.

So, no, you’re not doing this wrong. But even if you were, I could still work through it. 🙃

Now, take what you’re experiencing and use it to write a prayer.

A prayer for difficult situations.

God,

I don’t know where else to turn.

I’m so grateful that You know every detail of our circumstances—all of our relationships, conversations, emotions, our history, and the intricate web it all weaves making peace seem impossible.

Can You show me what to do and help me to feel better?

I know, when you need prayer for difficult situations, this next part sounds crazy.

When a friend first gave me a copy of this Bible verse, I wasn’t in a good place. I thought she was nuts. But I decided to give it a try because I was desperate.

And you know what? It works, every time!

I know, the last thing you feel like doing at a time like this is rejoicing. But because it works, it’s become one of my go-to’s. You want to try it?

  1. Since God tells us to rejoice, that’s what I have tried to do. It didn’t make sense, but I decided to trust Him even though I didn’t feel like it. You know those times you get a song stuck on your mind? Here’s where you can use that to your advantage! Here’s one or another, but if you prefer, you can make one up. 🙃
  2. Next, I have tried being gentle to everyone around me. As I tried, I felt myself being more gentle than I felt capable of on my own.
  3. So, I did believe God was near. I think He empowered me.
  4. Because of what the verse said, I chose to give God my anxiety. Thanking Him for taking it was easy because I sure didn’t want it.
  5. Then I had to trust. That is not always easy, but I liked the sound of God guarding my heart and mind.

Another thing that helps me is how often I hear God tell me that He loves me. He does, you know, He really loves you! More than anyone else ever will.

God: Do you trust Me?

Me: I’m trying, but You know all the places where I struggle.

God: Let me hear you say it:

It helps to say it out loud. Sometimes, I write out the words He shows me so I can repeat them every time I need to remember them.

Need more? 🙂

When I need extra, I dig through the Bible for more promises. Then I make a list. And when I really want to get them deep inside so I never forget, I record that list. I own each of the promises, like I did here.

That’s how I get all those thoughts in my head to stop harassing me. ❤️

Before you leave, can I bless you?
