This is the Prayer You Need for a Successful Surgery and Full Recovery
Inside: Do you or someone you know
need prayer for a successful surgery and full recovery?
Let me share what I’ve learned.
As I prepared to go in for brain surgery, it became much more important to me to find not just a prayer but a MIGHTY prayer for a successful surgery and a full recovery.
And I know I’m not the only one who needs a touch like that from God.
Over the years, God has asked me to “pray big!”
Have you ever looked at how many verses there are in the Bible about asking? If you haven’t, click here to have a look at 78 scriptures that will help you understand what God wants you to ask.
Sometimes we need reminders of what God tells us to do to raise our faith level.
And we never want to get to heaven and realize all that we could have had just for the asking, right?
The battle is real.
But we are not standing on the symptoms. We are standing on the Word of God knowing that:
- [God] never leaves or forsakes us (Hebrews 13:5) even under anesthesia.
- All the days ordained for me were written in His book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:16, ESV)
- “Not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. As for you, even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth much more than many sparrows!” (Matt. 10: 30-31, GNT)
- And we talk about this all the time. “We know that in ALL THINGS God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NIV) God doesn’t cause bad things to happen, but He will work them together for our good.
And God is the Great Physician!
Where is that Mighty Prayer for a Successful Surgery and Full Recovery I promised?
It’s coming, but let me build your faith first.
Why?
Because then you’ll have the faith you need to believe God when you pray.
Prayers filled with faith work a lot better than prayers we pray without it. ☺️
After hearing about my surgery, my pastor, texted, “Are you at peace?”
I was! Can I tell you what a miracle that is?
The only moment that I wasn’t was when I woke up in the middle of the night after I felt prompted to post about my surgery on Facebook.
When I got up the next morning, God showed me that other people’s fear was attacking me, so I gave that to Him.
How?
Sometimes I have to write what I’m giving God on a piece of paper, crinkle it up, and throw it in my recycle bin. I know that sounds weird. But if I don’t do something physical like that, I can resist the temptation of revisiting that fear.
And I don’t want to do that.
Once God and I had that chat, His peace filled me again.
Because here’s the thing . . .
You might want to read that out loud.
It’s a great sword to use if fear comes at you. Just tell fear, “God has NOT given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind!”
When I speak those promises out loud, something happens. My spirit believes me. And the more I repeat it, the more my faith grows to receive it!
Try it and see if it works for you, too. It can’t hurt!
Can I build your faith a little bit more?
We all believe lies about God and what God will do for us and what He won’t.
Even though I’ve been hanging out with God for ages, I didn’t understand that until this surgery came up.
Could I trust God to help me through it?
When I needed it most, I came across this next little video that answered my question.
Click here and start listening at minute 16 for a short explanation that will help you realize the lies you’ve been believing about whether God will help with this surgery and what the truth is.
The Bible tells us to have childlike faith.
My friend, Liza, has it. And she had the same diagnosis as I did. After her pastor prayed for her, the next scan showed that her tumor was gone.
She keeps reminding me:
- As Christians, we were healed 2,000 years ago because of what Jesus did for us when He died for us on the cross. No argument can stand against that. The healing is real. It’s a done deal. End of story.
(Not a Christian? I’m so glad you’re here.
If you’re wondering about Christianity, you might want to click here.)
- Keep repeating Bible verses. Evil needs you to start doubting God to rob you. Don’t let him!
- Ignore the symptoms. Keep using the words from the Bible as your sword and faith as your shield. The symptoms will fade away.
Then, she reminded me again:
“Your head is no place for other people’s unbelief!”
Whether you are a Christian or not, God loves you SO much!
And He wants you to know that.
At a shower recently, I didn’t know the bride very well. As we played games, I didn’t have much to add. I didn’t have a cool story about how I met her or anything like that.
But there was a container of candy kisses and one of hugs. Whoever guessed the number inside won the lot. I almost didn’t guess because I am spatially challenged. I can’t tell you what size container to use for your leftovers.
That’s when God prompted me to fill in the blank with a number He brought to mind.
I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when they called my name as the winner and handed me my 138 kisses from God. I laughed. Then I asked God, “Why didn’t I win the hugs?”
He said, “You don’t like vanilla chocolate!”
He’s right!
God wants you to know that
you are precious in His sight! ❤️
When we partner our agreement together in prayer,
we are mightier than if we pray on our own. So, let’s do that.
Let’s pray a mighty prayer for a successful surgery and full recovery! Let’s partner our faith in agreement that:
- As Christians, we are in a blood covenant relationship with Jesus Christ. So in that hospital, we stand on kingdom turf. No intrusion of the enemy is allowed to take part! Kingdom law reigns supreme.
- Our spirits are not subject to anesthesia. They are immune from its impact. Our spirits have complete dominion and authority to see what is happening at all times and to communicate with anyone in the room.
- There will be no surgery hangover. Immediately after the operation, we trust our spirits to accelerate the repair of the capillaries in the area of our incision, to scavenge our bodies for amino acids and other resources so that the waste products can be removed from our systems and there is minimal swelling.
- God, please jumpstart our spirits to help calm our nerves so we will have no pain. Help them begin the process of regrowth to energize new tissue and make healing extraordinarily different from when our bodies operate alone.
- We praise You and I can’t wait to hear the cool God stories that will happen because of this prayer!
- We trust You to guide us if there’s anything else You’d have us pray in Jesus’ name!
(Adapted from “Your Spirit and Surgery“)
This is what happened after my friend, Paige, prayed this prayer.
As she prepared for surgery on her face for her third bout of skin cancer, she listened to the podcast, Your Spirit and Surgery. She prayed that her spirit would be alert and watch over her during her surgery.
And something amazing happened.
When Paige awoke from full anesthesia, her doctor said, “During surgery, you prayed over your surgical team—out loud—for a long time. Under anesthesia, you shouldn’t have been able to talk!”
And don’t forget:
Every time you walk through something
and come out the other side,
you gain authority.
So, after your successful surgery and full recovery,
you will have the authority to pray for others who need
a successful surgery and full recovery.
So, pray for others!
Not only will you have the authority,
but you know what they’re going through
and how to pray for them after having gone through it yourself. ☺️
